Jumpstart you visual storytelling skills.

Use of materials is essential for establishing mood and emotion. This is critical in all facets of visual story telling. It is vital to create a visual feel for your imagery that is appropriate for the subject you are depicting. This is especially true for projects that have multiple visuals such as, graphic novels, comics, and Illustrated books that must convey a mood or emotion through multiple images. Individual paintings and illustrations can depict a mood or emotion establish by the use of media. For example; a portrait might convey a mood or emotion based on the choice of and attitude in which the materials are used. The concept of an illustration could be as simple as the mood or emotion that it depicts, the choice and use of media is essential for creating the mood and emotion.

Through use of life experience, observation, sketchbook, research, photography and studio practices George will demonstrate his journey on creating a visual direction / look for a narrative or non-narrative body of work. George will show examples of previous projects and give demonstration on use of materials. Students will choose a direction for their assignment, either narrative or non-narrative and be given explanation on how to develop from process through completion. Emphasis will be placed on media exploration and establishing a visual solution for the project. (Saturdays, March 11, 18, & 25, 2017, 2 pm - 5 pm CST)
