HOSTED in Kansas City, MO at Rockhurst University.


Non-local students can book affordable lodging with the hosting University.

Rockhurst Townhouse Village Units (THV) resources include:

  • These facilities are outfitted as a furnished apartment unit.

  • Laundry facilities are available and free (detergent is not provided)

  • THV kitchens include a stove top and microwave/countertop convection oven, and refrigerator.

  • THV kitchens do not include an oven.

  • Each unit has 2 to 6 bedrooms.

  • Each bedroom can accommodate 1-3 residents.

  • IA students may reserve a single or double bedroom

  • Cooking utensils, plates, and cutlery are not included in the kitchen and will not be provided by Rockhurst or The Illustration Academy

  • Attendees staying in the THV units must bring their own towels and toiletries.

  • Individual beds (sheets, pillows, and blankets are not included)

  • Attendees should bring their own twin xl sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels.

  • Some attendees bring sleeping bags.

  • Each unit has 2-3 full bathrooms

  • Dressers

  • TVs are not included

  • Desks with chair

  • Air conditioning

  • Wireless internet access

  • Secure entries

  • Gated parking

  • Security Cameras

  • The THV units are simple, furnished apartments. These facilities are not set up like a hotel and do not come with many basic amenities. We highly recommend students arrive prepared, as if they are moving into a dorm or new apartment.

  • Students who prefer more accommodations are welcome to stay at any nearby hotel or Airbnb. However, we cannot make last minute additions to campus housing if plans fall through or change for any reason.

A number of food options, including grocery stores and restaurants are within walking distance of the workshops. There is a scheduled 2 hour break for lunch and dinner every day.

  • Whole Foods is within a 10 minutes of Rockhurst University.

  • Cosentino's Market (Brookside)

  • Westport: nearby neighborhood with plenty of breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

  • Brookside: neighboring area with plenty of breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

  • Plaza: One of the more concentrated restaurant districts in KC.

  • A meal plan is NOT included or offered with housing or Academy tuition.



Students are within walking distance of countless art venues, public attractions, restaurants, and stores. A few neighboring organizations include:

Getting Around

Attendees are within walking distance of any resources they might need during their stay in Kansas City. The city offers reliable and tourist friendly public transit. Lime and Bird Scooters are also available in the metro area.
