Illustration Academy Hosts Monthly Figure Drawing

The Illustration Academy is hosting a monthly Illustration Academy Figure Drawing Session. Our first event is scheduled for Thursday, January 28, 6:00-9:00pm. The session is open to the public. It will be hosted at an artist studio in the West Bottoms (1212 W. 8th street, Kansas City, MO 64101). It will be first come first serve, but we will do our best to accommodate everyone feasible. Each month, we hope to feature a new local or visiting artist who will join the figure drawing session. We hope to make this a reoccurring and accessible educational opportunity for the community.

This January our featured artist is John English. You may have seen English’s work on the cover of Newsweek and for organizations such as Esquire, Penguin Books, Bantam Books, and Atlantic Records. Start your year off right and come sketch with the Academy!

Entry is $5. However, for our first session, we will allow free entry to anyone who shares the event’s time, location and tag @illustrationacademy on Facebook or Instagram. Just show your post at the door and you’re good! There will be nude models at this event, so entry is 18+. Artists under the age of 18, must be with a parent or legal guardian and provide a valid consent form.
