Five Academy Instructors Awarded at Spectrum Fantastic Art Live
Our good friends at Spectrum Fantastic Art Live hosted their annual event this past weekend in Kansas City, MO. The 3-day long event was a rich collection of fantasy and sci-fi artists making new friends, inspiring one another with creativity, and sharing their work.
The Spectrum 24 Awards ceremony was hosted at the Folly Theater. We were more than stunned to realize that six of our 2017 Illustration Academy instructors were nominated for awards. Five of these outstanding artists received Silver and Gold medals. Not to mention, the title of Spectrum's Grandmaster was awarded to comic book legend, Bill Sienkiewicz.
BILL SIENKIEWICZ: Grand Master
BILL CARMAN: Gold for Institutional Category
KARLA ORTIZ: Gold for Unpublished Category
EDWARD KINSELLA: Silver in Unpublished Category
JEFFREY ALAN LOVE: Silver in Book Category
In addition, we were proud to hear that former student Ashly Lovett was an Honorable Mention as a Rising Star in the industry.
Throughout the weekend our booth was full of Illustration Academy instructors performing demos, signing prints of their artwork, and providing one-on-one portfolio reviews to art students. We also raffled off original sketches by Jeffrey Alan Love, Jon Foster, Bill Sienkiewicz, C. F. Payne, George Pratt, and Wesley Burt.
